Southern Metals and Minerals (SMM) is a company that emerged from a collaboration between SCE Ashman and its American partners. SMM specializes in sourcing and processing silicon-based products, injection carbons, scrap-based briquettes, and insulation covering materials for the metallurgical industry. Ashman will continue toll briquetting and on-site mineral processing services as well as equipment leasing and supply.

SMM focuses on the development and supply of innovative metallurgical products, particularly alloy and metal briquettes (CBI) made from ultra-fine sources of metal that are generally discarded. Our product range also includes the Silex series, which offers briquettes and lumpy material with different grades of silicon metal content for use in iron and steel industries, foundries, and other metallurgical applications.

Additionally, we also develop and produce high-performance binder systems and offer advanced solutions for briquetting processes.
